Congratulations on deciding to learn numerology! This guide will teach you the basics of how to do the calculations to get your numbers and then how to interpret the meaning of the numbers.

Numerology uses names and birth dates to give clues as to a person’s true nature, strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes and more. Both name and date numerology follow pretty much the same basic steps. The only difference between the two is that when using a name you must first translate the letters into numbers. Broken down into it’s simplest parts, numerology works like this:

  1. Translate the letters of a name into numbers. If you are doing a date you can skip this step.
  2. Add the numbers together using natural addition until you arrive at a single digit
  3. Interpret the meaning of the number you arrived at in the last step and apply that to your life.

Obviously this is very simplified, but it should give you an idea of what you will be able to do once you have mastered the basics of numerology.

Pythagorean and Chaldean Numerology

The two major types of numerology used in the West are Pythagorean and Chaldean numerology. Pythagorean numerology tends to be more popular because it is easier to learn. However, Chaldean numerology is considered by many to be more accurate. This guide discusses both Pythagorean and Chaldean numerology and will show you how to translate letters into numbers in both systems. The meaning of the numbers is basically the same in both systems, the main difference being the numerical values you use for each letter to arrive at the final number.

How to use This Guide

Section I of this guide will teach you the basics of how to do numerology. You will learn the system of addition that is used to calculate numbers, and you will learn to translate letters to numbers using both the Pythagorean system and the Chaldean system of numerology.
